Sukkari dates

Sukkari is a variety from Qassim, and its palms are about 65% of the region’s palms. We sell it in two forms: Mufattal, a date that twisted on itself as it dried and kept a soft flesh inside a firm skin, sorted fruit by fruit into declared grades from Everyday to Rare; and Galaxy, in its grades, in limited quantity. The Mufattal is from our farms in Qassim, harvest 1448, and it is delivered to you within Jeddah.

Sukkari Mufattal and Sukkari Galaxy

Mufattal: Mufattal describes the shape of the date, not its variety: a date that twisted on itself as it dried, keeping a soft flesh inside a firm skin. Mufattal is the shape we sort our Sukkari by.

Galaxy: We sell it by the kilo in its grades from Everyday to Rare, in limited quantity. The Royal is glossy fruit the colour of dark amber.

How they differ in shape, colour and price, side by side, is in Sukkari Mufattal and Galaxy: the difference.

The grades: Royal, Premium and Everyday

The same variety, the same palms, the same day. The difference is in the shape alone: size, how even the twist is, how uniform the colour is, and how closely the skin holds the flesh. Royal meets all four at their highest, Premium meets them, and Everyday is small and broken dates for cooking. The taste is close across them all.

GradeThe fruitFor
RoyalThe largest fruit, fully twisted, perfectly even colourA special guest and gifting
PremiumFull, even size, evenly twisted, light amber colour, skin holding to the fleshThe majlis, guests and gifting
EverydaySmall or broken fruit, the full taste, irregular in shapeCooking, sweets and juices

The sorting, step by step, is on the grades page.

Which Sukkari should you choose?

How to keep Sukkari

Somewhere cool and dry, away from the sun, or in the fridge if the weather is hot — so they stay soft for longer. They do not need freezing. If sugar forms grains on the surface, that is the date's own sugar crystallising, not a flaw and not spoilage.
