From the Sunnah

  • The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“There is a tree among the trees which is similar to a Muslim (in goodness), and that is the date palm tree.”

    مِنَ الشَّجَرِ شَجَرَةٌ تَكُونُ مِثْلَ الْمُسْلِمِ، وَهْىَ النَّخْلَةُ

The journey

From the palm to your hand

This date travelled this road before it reached you.

  1. 03:40

    Before dawn

The climbing begins while it is still under twenty degrees. A cool fruit can be handled without being crushed, and its sugar has not yet melted.

  2. 05:15

    On the table

What is picked is sorted within the hour, fruit by fruit, not by the kilo. Whatever fails the sorting is set aside at once and goes to the press.

  3. 06:30

    Into the cold

The rutab goes into the cold room at four degrees within two hours of picking. Here time stops working against it.

  4. 09:00

    Leaving Qassim

The box is stamped with its production date and its grade, and leaves in a refrigerated truck the same day.
