Wanana is a long-established Qassim variety from Buraydah. Local tradition says it takes its name from the hum of palm fronds in the wind. This is Wanana at the rutab stage, in the Royal grade: long, reddish-brown dates. Sold by the kilo.

وَهُزِّىٓ إِلَيْكِ بِجِذْعِ ٱلنَّخْلَةِ تُسَـٰقِطْ عَلَيْكِ رُطَبًا جَنِيًّا
Narrated 'Abdullah bin Ja'far:
“I saw Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) eating fresh dates with snake cucumbers.”
